Is it Time to Update your “Self-Image”?

Self-Esteem-and-PerceptionYour Self Image is the perception you have of yourself–your identity, abilities, worth, etc.

It determines how you feel about yourself, who you think you are, the results you expect in your life, and the things you “would” and “wouldn’t” do.

Our self-image is one of the most important areas of our life, yet no one ever teaches us much about it.  We don’t talk about it much in school, or even in society.

Yet our self-image regulates everything we think, feel and do!

Have you ever tried to set a goal that’s larger than you’re used to, and then quietly backed down to your comfort zone and returned to your old habits?  That’s because your self-image didn’t really see you being able to do that.  It didn’t match up with the inside picture you had of yourself!

If you were asked to go into a room of strangers and introduce yourself to each one, would you do it?

If you saw yourself or thought of yourself as an outgoing, likeable, friendly person, you probably would.

If you see yourself as shy and an introvert, you probably would say, “That’s not who I am–I can’t do that!”

How do you KNOW who you really are?

You were programmed with a certain self-image by the people in your life.  Most people have just accepted that self image instead of designing and installing the one they truly want.

If you were programmed by parents with a low self-image, they couldn’t give you what they didn’t have but that doesn’t mean you can’t reprogram yourself.

You can change your self-image!

I’ll tell you how in my next blog!

I would love to hear what you think you can do to change your self-image or something you have done that you find works!  Comment below!

    Hi Faye!

Thank you for this post. I have spent the past few months working on this very thing. Sometimes I get in the groove of backing down for not wanting to toot my horn too loud. It is a total self image issue. I look forward to next weeks blog.
